KAYE SERA is a much loved singer, writer and media personality based in North East Victoria, Australia.
One of Australia's first drag acts to sing live, Kaye Sera has a disturbingly dedicated following for her cabaret and other media work. Her dodgy shows have enjoyed an enduring presence in Melbourne's Festival lineup. They include Funky Fraulein, Ladies First, Camping Out, The Full Lube Job, Kabaresque, Pussy Bow Cabaret, Beyond the Buggery Belt and The Naked Drag Queen.
Kaye Sera has also performed with Luke Gallagher and Adrian Kirk. Their equally dodgy shows are Harder, Longer, Faster, Grass Roots Tour and Share and Cher Alike.
Kaye Sera is a recipient of a Pride Award for "Entertainer of the Year" (2001) and a Rainbow Award for "Outstanding Media Achievement" (2004). She is a 2001 Green Room Award nominee for "Best Cabaret Performer" and in 2011 was honored, somewhat bewilderingly, with a Green Room Award for "Contribution to Cabaret".
Kaye Sera has been a presenter on Channel 31's Bent TV and a distinct, if questionable voice on community broadcaster, JOY 94.9FM. In print, Kaye has been read and even revered as a columist in BNEWS Publishing and rival community rag, Melbourne Star Observer.
A few years back, Kaye Sera threw caution to the wind and opened her own cabaret bar. Dubbed Kaye Sera's BiZARRE Cabaret Lounge, the much loved venture fizzled out after eighteen months of fabulousness and when the bills become insurmountable. There may be another venue in the future but don't hold your breath.
Kaye Sera is currently studying visual arts in a quest to become a real artist. In the meantime, Kaye Sera could be the perfect choice as entertainer for your next ... (insert) ... birthday/wedding/committment ceremony/funeral/arts festival. Then and again, you could do better. Contact Kaye on the email below.
